PR Night 2025 Recap | Ottawa's Biggest Community 5K | The 25th Hour

On a summer night in 2025, 109 runners lined up at a community 5K that didn't exist a year before.

No city permit. No road closures. No 30-year history backing it up.

Just The 25th Hour, a chip-timed track, and a group of people who showed up to actually race.

What PR Night Is

Most community runs don't have a race at the end.

They're social. They're casual. They're good. But nobody's crossing a finish line with a clock running.

PR Night is different. It's a chip-timed 5K built around one idea: every runner who lines up should be chasing a personal record. Your pace doesn't matter. What matters is that you show up ready to run the best 5K you've ever run.

The name comes from the goal. PR = personal record. The point isn't to beat the person next to you. It's to beat the version of you who ran your last 5K.

The 2025 Numbers

Runners: 109
Format: Chip-timed 5K
Sponsors: Lululemon Ottawa, Red Bull, Sporting Life, two chiropractic clinics, cold plunge activation
Prizes: $1,500+ in value
Tickets: $30

For context: comparable Ottawa events (Run Ottawa, Somersault) run at $60+. The 25th Hour priced PR Night at $30. The goal wasn't margin. It was proving the model.

It worked.

What the Night Looked Like

The athlete village was set up before the first runner arrived.

Red Bull finish line. DJ set. Cold plunges. Pre/post run chiro tables. Lululemon presence. More than a race bib and a water cup — an actual experience built around what happens before and after you run.

Runners warmed up. Pace partners found each other. The energy before the gun was the kind you don't manufacture — it builds on its own when the right people are in the same place.

Then they ran.

109 people set off in 4 heats.

After the race: the social. The kind of 30 minutes where people who ran against each other end up talking for an hour. That's the part that doesn't show up in race results but explains why people come back.

Why Sponsors Backed It

Lululemon Ottawa didn't sponsor PR Night because they were doing The 25th Hour a favour.

They sponsored it because 100+ young, fitness-forward Ottawa residents in one place is exactly their audience — and they showed up ready to actually engage, not just walk by a booth.

Red Bull sees the same thing. An athlete village full of people who just ran a 5K is a room full of people who care about performance. That's not a hard sell.

This is the model. The 25th Hour isn't offering logo placement on a banner. It's offering channel access to a community that already trusts the brand.

What PR Night Proved

That Ottawa wants this.

A chip-timed community 5K, priced fairly, built around genuine competition and a post-race experience — 109 people showed up for it with almost no budget behind the marketing. Almost entirely word of mouth and Instagram.

That's not luck. That's pent-up demand.
