Global Running Day Recap: Ottawa Run Clubs on One Start Line

On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Ottawa run clubs came together on the same start line for Global Running Day. Here is what happened.

Runners mid-stride on a track

On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, about 150 people came out for Global Running Day in Ottawa. Three other Ottawa run clubs joined us.

That is the whole idea of Global Running Day here. Clubs that usually run on their own nights, on their own routes, ran together for one day.

Who came

Different clubs have different paces, different routes and different people. For one day none of that mattered. The start line was shared.

Why we did it

Ottawa has a lot of good run clubs, and most runners belong to one or two. We think the city is stronger when those groups know each other. A shared start line is the easiest way to do that.

Global Running Day is a day that celebrates what runners do. We wanted to mark it with the people who make Ottawa's running scene what it is, not by ourselves.

A moment worth keeping

The best part was the whole community in one place on one day. Global Running Day celebrates what we all do, and for one day we did it together.

It also showed what has been built in Ottawa. Run clubs like ours and the three that joined us have built something real here. Seeing about 150 of those runners side by side made that easy to see.

If you were there, thank you. If you run with another club, you are welcome with us any week.

What is next

If you ran with a club that day, come see how we do Thursdays. The Thursday run club meets every Thursday at 19:00 at Sporting Life Lansdowne, 125 Marché Way. No sign-up, no fee. Details on the run club page. See every upcoming and past event on our events page.
